Amparo Rio das Ostras is a non-profit, privately run organization set up to rescue stray animals, and hopefully find permanent homes for them.
They run adoption fairs, free spay and neuter events, other awareness events, and help find lost pets.
If you are looking for a pet to join your family, please consider adoption. There are so many dogs and cats which need homes, you'll find a perfect match.
A guide in English for expats living in and around Rio das Ostras, RJ, Brazil.

Small in size and huge in charm, Praia da Joana is part of the
"Monumento Natural dos Costões Rochosos" of Rio das Ostras. It has
vegetation typical of the city, with many bromeliads, cacti, orchids,

Beaches - Praia do Cemitério
Located just to the north of Praia do Centro, just around the point on the other side of the Iate Clube, this small beach is great for swimming. The waves are gentle, the water is shallow and it is much less crowded than Praia do Centro. With it's picturesque wooden pier, it's said to be the best location in town for watching the sunset.

Beaches - Praia do Centro
Located right downtown, this beach has very calm waters and seems to be the best one for small children. It is the embarkation point for tour boats that travel the coast and also hosts the "banana-boat". It is about 2km long and ten to twenty meters wide.
