Beaches - Praia do Centro

Located right downtown, this beach has very calm waters and seems to be the best one for small children. It is the embarkation point for tour boats that travel the coast and also hosts the "banana-boat". It is about 2km long and ten to twenty meters wide.

There is a nice wooden pier next to the Yacht Club where you can buy fresh fish from the returning fishermen most mornings.

It's a beautiful beach full of palm trees and small boats, and has the added benefit of very convenient kioskes, bars and restaurants. Nearly every evening and weekend there will be live music playing somewhere along the beach, usually associated with with one of the kioskes.

You will see several street vendors selling many different items like jewelry, beach wrap sarongs, hats, hammocks, etc.

This is a very easy beach to get to with parking along the beach front street, and several "estacionamento" parking lots nearby within a block or two.

There is also a nice playground for children and an ice cream shop just across the street.
