Beaches - Praia do Cemitério

Located just to the north of Praia do Centro, just around the point on the other side of the Iate Clube, this small beach is great for swimming. The waves are gentle, the water is shallow and it is much less crowded than Praia do Centro. With it's picturesque wooden pier, it's said to be the best location in town for watching the sunset.

From here you can see the islands Coqueiro Só, the tiny Trinta Réis, and Quinza Réis.

The beach is so named because of the nearby small cemetery. There are a few kiosks and restaurants near the beach, and a basketball court on the north end.

The beach is about 300 meters long and 5 to 10 meters wide, bordered on the left by Boca de Barra at the mouth of the river and on the right by Morro do Limão (Lime Hill) near the cemetery.

  1. nice blog - its been a while since I was in Macae and/or Rio das Ostras. And unless forced to go will stay away. My (step) daughter has a house on the beach between the two town and we visited often. Nice blog you are doing, photos are great.
