I normally only write about locations that are actually in Rio das Ostras, but this place is so close it's too good to pass up.

Located just 50km from the center of Rio das Ostras, Vivencia Treinamentos offers really good quality outdoor adventures in an incredibly beautiful location.

You can choose from several different horseback rides in the nearby mountains. The guides are knowledgeable, the horses are well maintained and trained but still alert and interested in their surroundings, and you will be well taken care of no matter what your skill level.

In our small group we had one very experienced rider, one on the first solo ride of her life, and a couple who's experience levels fell somewhere in between. The guides were observant and patient, and made sure we each had a horse who's temperament suited our abilities.

They also offer guided nature hikes in the area, and survival courses including orienteering (compass and map reading).

The guides know the area well, and are prepared to take care of everything you need during your adventure.

The environment and scenery are stunning and well worth the short drive out.

You will see mountains and forests, beautiful plant life and if you keep your eyes open you'll see quite a bit of wildlife as well, both large and small. If you're very, very lucky you'll catch a glimpse of the local Lion Monkeys who still inhabit this forest.

Prof. Márvio Fernandes Chedid speaks enough English that you will still be able to participate in all of their adventures even without a translator. You can contact them easily through email to let them know if you need an English speaking guide.

Please click the "Location" link below to see exactly where to find them.

Happy trails!
