Located just to the south of Praia do Centro, this beach has bigger waves and rougher sand than Centro, but not as bad as Praia das Tartarugas. The beach runs from Praça São Pedro in Centro to the rocks at the point of Turtle Beach.
Praia do Bosque is so named because it borders the "Bosque" neighborhood in the city. A neighborhood which preserves it's nature and where all the streets are named after trees. Bosque means "grove of trees" in Portuguese.
There are various kiosks here which serve food and drink. Some of them have chairs and beach umbrellas available for use for free. There are exercise points with workout equipment such as pull-up bars and sit-up ramps, and a dedicated beach volleyball court area. While walking along this beach I see both being used quite frequently.
This is a fun swimming beach. The waves are short, so not the best for body surfing, but still fun to play in without being too rough. Please watch the signs because at times the tides can be quite strong. The closer you get to the rocks at the point, the stronger the waves get.
There are several shops facing the beach on the north end closest to Centro. You can find souvenirs, bathing suits, clothing and food. The beach is about 1km long and 10 to 15 meters wide.
